Viagra is the brand most people search for, but it is no longer the only way to get sildenafil, and in the Philippines it is by far the most expensive. How much is Viagra in the Philippines?

At Watsons, branded sildenafil (Viagra) is listed at ₱683 for 25 mg, ₱915 for 50 mg and ₱1,168 for 100 mg, each per tablet. Those are the highest verified sildenafil prices at every strength.

Viagra was developed by Pfizer and was the first PDE5 inhibitor approved for erectile dysfunction, in 1998. In the Philippines it is sold per tablet, behind the pharmacy counter, with a prescription. Its active ingredient is sildenafil citrate, and since the patents expired, many companies make the same ingredient under their own brand names.

How much is Viagra at Mercury Drug?

We do not have a verified Mercury Drug price for Viagra yet. We publish a price only when we can link to the listing it came from, and we have not been able to do that for Mercury Drug.

Mercury Drug is the largest pharmacy chain in the Philippines, so it is a fair question, and we are working on it. Until then, ask at your branch. What a month looks like

If your doctor prescribed sildenafil 50 mg and you used it 4 times a month, branded sildenafil (Viagra) would come to ₱NaN, against ₱NaN for Zilden and ₱NaN for Erecto. These are illustrations only; how often you use it is your doctor's decision.

Is generic Viagra as good as the real thing?

A registered generic is the same medicine. It must contain the same active ingredient at the same strength and be bioequivalent, meaning it reaches the bloodstream in the same amount and at the same rate as the original.

The US FDA describes approved generics as working "in the same way" as their brand-name versions. Philippine policy pushes in the same direction: the Generics Act of 1988 makes doctors write the generic name on prescriptions, and the Cheaper Medicines Act of 2008 (RA 9502) was passed to widen access to lower-priced quality medicines.

What you pay extra for with the original is the name, the long track record of that specific product, and the tablet's familiar look. What differs in a generic is the maker, the tablet's colour and shape, the inactive ingredients and the box. The real risk is not registered generics, it is unregistered pills. Fake "Viagra" and "herbal" capsules spiked with sildenafil are sold online and on social media, and the FDA Philippines has issued repeated warnings about them. What should you ask the pharmacist about Viagra and its generics?

Ask which sildenafil brands they have in stock at your prescribed strength, and what each costs per tablet today. Pharmacists in the Philippines are used to this question, and it is the quickest way to see the real shelf price.

A few other questions are worth a minute at the counter:

  • Is this registered? Every product a chain pharmacy dispenses should carry an FDA Philippines registration number on the box. You can check it yourself on the verification portal.
  • Is it sold per tablet or per box? Most ED tablets are sold per piece, but some, such as Robust Plus, come in boxes. Compare the per-tablet price, not the box price.
  • Are you a senior citizen? Filipino citizens aged 60 and over, living in the Philippines, are entitled under RA 9994 to a 20% reduction and VAT exemption on medicines for their own use, with an OSCA ID and a prescription. Expats do not qualify under this law.

Can you get Viagra without seeing a doctor?
