Cialis is the brand name of tadalafil, the longer-acting ED medicine. In the Philippines it is sold at Watsons, Southstar Drug and Rose Pharmacy, and it costs more per tablet than almost anything else in the ED aisle. This page compares the original with every tadalafil generic we know of, says plainly which prices we have verified and which we are still checking, and works out what a month costs.

How much is Cialis in the Philippines?

Branded tadalafil (Cialis) 20 mg was listed at ₱982 at Rose Pharmacy, ₱985.25 at Watsons and ₱1,053.75 at Southstar Drug. The 5 mg tablet was ₱277 at Watsons.

Cialis was developed by Eli Lilly and approved for erectile dysfunction in the early 2000s. Its active ingredient, tadalafil, is now off patent, so other companies can make it. In the Philippines it is sold per tablet with a prescription. The Rose Pharmacy listing was marked out of stock when we checked.

How much is Cialis at Watsons?

Watsons lists tadalafil (Cialis) at ₱277 for 5 mg and ₱985.25 for 20 mg, per tablet. It is the only chain where we have verified both strengths.

Watsons is also where the generic Torfil sits, at 2.5, 10 and 20 mg. That means one counter can show you both the original and a generic, so you can ask the pharmacist to compare them with your prescription in hand. We do not yet have a verified Mercury Drug or TGP price for tadalafil (Cialis).

What are the generic alternatives to Cialis?

The generic with verified prices is Torfil, at ₱395 for 20 mg. Robust Max, Thafil and Tadah Forte are also tadalafil products in the Philippines, but their prices are still being checked.

Torfil

Robust Max (Robust T)

Robust Max, also labelled Robust T, is a tadalafil 20 mg tablet listed at Watsons as a prescription medicine. Its listing showed a pack of more than one tablet, and we could not confirm the pack size, so we have not published a per-tablet price yet. It is a different product from the Robust herbal supplements, which are not ED medicines. Price being checked; see all verified prices.

Thafil

Thafil is a tadalafil orodispersible film, a thin strip that dissolves on the tongue rather than a tablet you swallow. The listing we found did not make the pack size clear, so its price is being checked. The film format may suit men who find tablets hard to swallow, but the active ingredient is the same. Tadah Forte

Tadah Forte is listed on MIMS Philippines as a local tadalafil brand. We have not found a retail price we can source. See the Tadah Forte brand page.

Is generic Cialis as good as Cialis?

A registered generic is the same medicine. It must contain tadalafil at the same strength and be bioequivalent, meaning it reaches the bloodstream in the same amount and at the same rate as the original.

The US FDA describes approved generics as working "in the same way" as their brand-name versions. What differs is the maker, the tablet's colour and shape, the inactive ingredients and the box. The Generics Act of 1988 (RA 6675) requires prescriptions to carry the generic name, so a prescription for tadalafil at a given strength can usually be filled with any registered tadalafil product at that strength. Tadalafil can be used on demand, with an effect that can last up to 36 hours according to the NHS, or as a lower-strength daily tablet. A daily plan is also used for urinary symptoms of an enlarged prostate. Not per tablet at the top strengths. Branded tadalafil (Cialis) 20 mg at Watsons is ₱985.25, against ₱1,168 for branded sildenafil (Viagra) 100 mg, so the original Viagra costs more.

The bigger difference is in generics. Sildenafil has many cheap generics on Philippine shelves, starting at ₱49 for 50 mg, while tadalafil's cheapest verified 20 mg generic is ₱395. What should you check on a box of Cialis or a generic?

Check that the box names tadalafil, the strength and the maker, and that it carries an FDA Philippines registration number. A real ED medicine is always marked as needing a prescription.

Tadalafil packs at Philippine chains are usually sold per tablet, cut from a blister strip, so ask to see the strip and its printed batch number and expiry date. If anything looks off, such as misspellings, a missing registration number or a price far below every figure on this page, do not use it, and report it to the FDA Philippines.
