Erecto (sildenafil) in the Philippines
Erecto is a generic sildenafil 50 mg tablet at TGP, the cheapest verified 50 mg on this site. Its FDA registration, checked price and Erecto vs Viagra.
Short answer
Erecto is a generic brand of sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra, sold at TGP as a 50 mg tablet. It needs a prescription.
When we checked, TGP listed Erecto 50 mg at ₱49 a tablet, the cheapest verified sildenafil 50 mg on this site.
What is Erecto?
Erecto is a generic sildenafil tablet sold through The Generics Pharmacy (TGP), the chain whose branches are found in many towns and barangays across the country. Like all sildenafil, it blocks the PDE5 enzyme, which lets blood flow into the penis when you are sexually aroused. It does not cause an erection without arousal.
We could not find a reliable public source naming Erecto's manufacturer, so we will not guess. The maker and the registration holder are listed on the FDA Philippines product registration and printed on the pack.
Sildenafil was first sold by Pfizer as Viagra. Since the patent ended, generics such as Erecto, Spiagra and RiteMed sildenafil have made it far more affordable. Our sildenafil guide explains the medicine in full.
Is Erecto registered with the FDA Philippines?
Check on the FDA Verification Portal at verification.fda.gov.ph. Choose drug products, search "Erecto" or "sildenafil", and registered products appear with their registration number, holder and manufacturer.
We have not quoted a registration number because we have not seen one we can cite, and the portal is the current record. Match what it shows to your pack. If the details do not match, or the product comes from a seller who does not ask for a prescription, do not use it. Our page on fake ED pills shows what to look for.

The priciest verified 50 mg tablet is ₱915 (Viagra, Watsons), about 19 times the Erecto price, for the same active ingredient. See all verified prices for every brand side by side.
What strengths does Erecto come in?
The TGP listing we checked is Erecto 50 mg, sold as single tablets. Other strengths may be registered; the FDA Philippines portal lists every registered strength.
Sildenafil as a medicine exists in 25 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg. Which strength is right for you, and how often you use it, is decided by your doctor, based on your age, heart, liver and kidney health and other medicines.
Erecto vs Viagra: is there a difference?
The active ingredient is the same: sildenafil citrate. A generic registered in the Philippines must show bioequivalence, meaning the same amount of sildenafil reaches the blood, at about the same rate, as Viagra.
What differs:
- Price. Viagra 50 mg was listed at ₱915 a tablet at Watsons, many times the Erecto price.
- Maker. Viagra is the originator brand. Erecto is a generic from another company, named on its registration.
- Look and fillers. Tablet colour, shape and inactive ingredients may differ, without changing how the medicine works.
- Where it is stocked. Erecto is mainly a TGP product; Viagra is at Watsons, Mercury Drug and other large chains.
Why is Erecto so cheap?
Generic makers skip the cost of discovering and trialling a new medicine; they only have to show their tablet matches the original. TGP's business is built on low-margin generics, and Philippine law, including the Generics Act and the Cheaper Medicines Act, encourages doctors and pharmacies to offer generic options.
A low price is not a sign of a weaker tablet. What matters is that the product is registered with the FDA Philippines and dispensed by a licensed pharmacy against a prescription. The risky products are not cheap registered generics but unregistered tablets and "herbal" capsules sold online, some of which have been found to contain hidden sildenafil at unknown doses.
Can you use Erecto if you have diabetes or high blood pressure?
Often yes, but only after a doctor has checked. Diabetes and hypertension are among the most common causes of ED in Filipino men, and many men who need sildenafil are already on maintenance medicines for one or both.
Sildenafil can lower blood pressure a little on its own, and more so with alpha blockers (used for blood pressure or an enlarged prostate). Most other blood pressure and diabetes medicines are not a problem, but your doctor needs the full list, including anything from a barangay health centre. ED can also be an early warning of heart disease, so a consultation is a good moment to check blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure.
How should you store Erecto in the Philippine heat?
Follow the storage line printed on the box, keep the tablets in their original strip until use, and keep them away from children. A bathroom cabinet or a car glovebox in April is too hot and humid.
If a tablet looks cracked, discoloured or damp, do not use it; return it to the pharmacy. Never move tablets into an unlabelled container: if you ever need emergency care, the box tells the doctor exactly what you took.
What are the side effects of Erecto?
The side effects are those of any sildenafil. Common ones are headache, flushing, a blocked or runny nose, indigestion and dizziness, usually lasting a few hours.
Some men notice a blue tinge to vision or sensitivity to light. Serious effects are rare but need urgent care: an erection lasting more than 4 hours, sudden vision or hearing loss, or chest pain. Sildenafil interacts with nitrates, some blood pressure and prostate medicines, and some antifungal and HIV medicines. Read more in ED medicine side effects and safety.
How do you get a prescription for Erecto?
You need a prescription from a licensed doctor, whether from a clinic visit or a telehealth consultation. TGP pharmacists should ask to see it.
Our guide to whether Viagra is over the counter explains the rules, and online ED consultations compares the services available. A doctor will also look for causes worth treating in their own right: ED is often an early sign of diabetes, high blood pressure or heart disease.
Frequently asked questions
Is Erecto the same as Viagra?
Erecto and Viagra contain the same active ingredient, sildenafil. A generic registered with the FDA Philippines must show it delivers the same amount of sildenafil to the blood as the original. The maker, tablet look and price differ.
Is a cheap generic like Erecto less effective?
Not if it is registered with the FDA Philippines and comes from a licensed pharmacy. Generics cost less because their makers did not pay for the original research, not because they contain less medicine.
Do you need a prescription for Erecto?
Yes. Erecto is listed as a prescription (Rx) medicine at TGP. A licensed doctor checks first that sildenafil is safe with your heart and any other medicines you take.
Where is Erecto available?
We verified Erecto at The Generics Pharmacy (TGP). Other pharmacies may list it, but we only show prices we have confirmed. Stock varies by branch, so call ahead.
