When we checked, Zilden 50 mg was listed at ₱94.75 a tablet at Southstar and ₱95 at Watsons.

What is Zilden?

Zilden is a generic sildenafil tablet sold in the big national chains, which makes it one of the easier generics to find outside the TGP network. Like every sildenafil, it blocks the PDE5 enzyme so that blood can flow into the penis when you are sexually aroused. It does not cause an erection on its own.

We could not find a reliable public source naming Zilden's manufacturer, so we will not guess. The maker and the registration holder are listed on the FDA Philippines product registration and printed on the box.

Sildenafil was first sold by Pfizer as Viagra. Generic versions like Zilden, Spiagra and RiteMed sildenafil contain the same active ingredient at a lower price. Our sildenafil guide covers how the medicine works, who should avoid it and how long it lasts.

Is Zilden registered with the FDA Philippines?

You can check on the FDA Verification Portal at verification.fda.gov.ph. Choose drug products, search "Zilden" or "sildenafil", and each registered strength appears with its registration number, holder and manufacturer.

We have not quoted a registration number because we have not seen one we can cite, and the portal is the current source. Compare its details with your pack. A box whose details do not match, or one from a seller who does not ask for a prescription, should not be used. See how to spot fake ED pills.

At 50 mg, Viagra was listed at ₱915 a tablet at Watsons, so Zilden costs roughly a tenth of the brand. The cheapest verified 50 mg tablet we found is ₱49 (Erecto, TGP), but that brand is mostly found at TGP. If your nearest pharmacy is a Watsons or Southstar, Zilden is one of the lowest-cost options on the shelf. Every brand is compared on the sildenafil price page.

What strengths does Zilden come in?

Zilden is listed in two strengths:

  • 50 mg film-coated tablet
  • 100 mg film-coated tablet

Sildenafil is also made in 25 mg by other brands. The right strength depends on your age, your heart, liver and kidney health, and the other medicines you take, so it is decided by your doctor. Do not change strength without asking them.

Zilden vs Viagra: is there a difference?

The medicine inside is the same. Zilden and Viagra both contain sildenafil citrate, and a generic registered in the Philippines must show bioequivalence: the same amount reaches the blood, at about the same rate, as the original.

What differs:

  • Price. Zilden 50 mg is about a tenth of the price of Viagra 50 mg at Watsons.
  • Maker. Viagra is the originator brand. Zilden is a generic made by another company, named on its registration.
  • Look and fillers. Colour, shape and inactive ingredients may differ. These do not change how the medicine works.
  • Packaging. Brand packs often include security features; generics vary. Either way, get it only from a licensed pharmacy.

Some men notice no difference at all after switching; a few prefer to stay with the brand they started on. Both choices are reasonable, and your doctor can help you decide.

Can you use Zilden if you have diabetes or high blood pressure?

Often yes, but only after a doctor has checked. Diabetes and hypertension are among the most common causes of ED in Filipino men, and many men who need sildenafil are already on maintenance medicines for one or both.

Sildenafil can lower blood pressure a little on its own, and more so with alpha blockers (used for blood pressure or an enlarged prostate). Most other blood pressure and diabetes medicines are not a problem, but your doctor needs the full list, including anything from a barangay health centre. ED can also be an early warning of heart disease, so a consultation is a good moment to check blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure.

How should you store Zilden in the Philippine heat?

Follow the storage line printed on the box, keep the tablets in their original blister until use, and keep them away from children. A bathroom cabinet or a car glovebox in April is too hot and humid.

If a tablet looks cracked, discoloured or damp, do not use it; return it to the pharmacy. Never move tablets into an unlabelled container: if you ever need emergency care, the box tells the doctor exactly what you took.

What are the side effects of Zilden?

The side effects are those of any sildenafil. The common ones are headache, flushing, a blocked or runny nose, indigestion and dizziness, usually lasting a few hours.

Some men notice a blue tinge to their vision or sensitivity to bright light. Serious effects are rare but need urgent care: an erection lasting more than 4 hours, sudden loss of vision or hearing, or chest pain. Sildenafil interacts with nitrates, some blood pressure medicines and some antifungal and HIV medicines. Read more in ED medicine side effects and safety.

How do you get a prescription for Zilden?

You need a prescription from a licensed doctor, either at a clinic or through a telehealth consultation. Watsons and Southstar pharmacists should ask to see it before dispensing.

Our guide to whether Viagra is over the counter explains the rules in the Philippines, and online ED consultations compares telehealth services, which many men use for privacy or to fit around BPO night shifts. A doctor may also look for underlying causes such as diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol, all common in Filipino men and all linked to ED.

Frequently asked questions
